WATERTOWN- William J. Zubrisky, 100, formerly of Claxton Ave., Watertown and Lake Waramaug, died Thursday May 1, 2008 at the Watertown Extended Care Facility in Watertown. He was the husband of the late Lillian (Palmatier) Zubrisky, who died in 1992.Bill was born in Waterbury, Jan. 19, 1908, a son of the late William and Amelia (Pudem) Zubrisky and was a graduate of Barnard School, Crosby High School and Post College and Columbia University Graduate School of Business. He had worked for Chromium Corporation of American in Waterbury for over 45 years, serving the last 25 as President; .retiring in 1973.They had been residents of Lake Waramaug for many years, having served as Assistant Chief of the Warren Fire Dept., later moving back to the greater Waterbury area. He was a 50 year Master Mason, having been a member of Euclid Lodge in Waterbury, later affiliating with Wolcott Lodge # 146 A.F & A.M. He was a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Waterbury; The Lafayette Consistory, Valley of Bridgeport; a member of the Grand lodge, Royal Arch Mason, The New Haven Commander # 2, Knights Templar; Sphinx Shriners of Newington, and the Kaabans Shrine Club of Plymouth.Mr. Zubrisky was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Waterbury, The Waterbury Country Club, the Western Hills Golf Course, and the Waterbury Club. He enjoyed Sailing, Fishing, and Golfing.He leaves his sister, Wanda Thurston of Watertown; 2 nephews, Robert D. Thurston, Jr. of Watertown and William A. Thurston of Waterbury; one niece, Shirley Smith Geary of Needles, CA Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave. Burial will be in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 12 noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, 06492 or the Shriners Hospital for Children, Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
