Obituary of John Kiely

The Alderson Funeral of Waterbury 9 Holmes Ave Waterbury, CT 06710 1-203-753-5112 Boston, MA- John J. Kiely, 84, passed away May 21, 2008 at the Hebrew Senior Life Nursing Home in Boston, MA John was born February 22nd, 1924 in Waterbury, CT and was the son of the late Helen (Clancey) and John J. Kiely. He attended Crosby High School where he graduated in 1942, and then went on to receive a bachelors degree from Niagara University. John was a veteran serving in World War II. John was employed at the Amica Life Insurance Company as an Insurance Adjuster prior to his retirement. John was involved with the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks (B.P.O.E) serving as Exalted Ruler in 1963. He also was a member if the Knights of Columbus Sheridan Council, and the Ancient Order of Hibernians. He served on the Board of Education in Waterbury from 1969 to 1975, and also was the Chairman of the Waterbury Housing Authority. He was most recently employed as director of security at the Griswold Inn in Essex, CT. John is survived by his sons John M. and his wife Debra Kiely of Wolcott, CT, James W. Kiely of San Francisco, CA, and Kevin P. Kiely of Belmont, MA. John is survived by his daughters Marita and her husband Robert Rozen of Marlboro, MA, and Kathryn and her husband Eric Spunt of Newton Centre, MA. John is survived by his twin sister Helen Shiel of Waterbury, CT. He is survived by his five grandchildren Elizabeth Rozen, Shane, Aidan, and Morgan Kiely, and Sydney Spunt. John also is survived by his former wife Olive Z. Kiely and long time companion Boulah Sullivan of Essex, CT. Arrangements- Funeral Services will be held on Saturday May 24th, 2008 8:15 A.M from The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave, Waterbury, CT 06710 to Our Lady of Loretto Church for mass at 9 A.M. Burial will follow in New St. Josephs Cemetery Waterbury. Calling hours will be held Friday May 23rd, 2008 from 5 to 8 P.M at the funeral home.
