Obituary of John Miller

CHESHIRE; John T. Miller 75 of Mountain Rd , died peacefully at his home on Saturday August 2, 2008 after battling pulmonary disease. He was the loving husband of Elizabeth (Bayer) Miller. John was born in Waterbury on September 29,1932 and was the son of the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Shoner) Miller. John graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury. He was an avid golfer and was an assistant to the golf pro at the Waterbury Country Club. He enlisted in the Army Reserve Artillery division in 1953, serving in Germany. In 1960 John became a Police Officer with the Cheshire Police Department and was the first Cheshire Officer to help deliver a baby boy on a snowing winter nite. He later became a construction superintendent for Associated Builders in Westport. John loved his yearly visits to Aruba and Las Vegas, and visits to the Connecticut Casinos . John leaves his wife Elizabeth of 48 years, his sister in law and brother in law, Theresia and Andy Vernale of Cheshire , A niece Carla and her husband Daniel Hannon , a nephew Andrew Jr. and his wife Celeste Vernale also great nieces and nephews , Megan and Ryan Hannon , Alexandria Vernale and Brandan Patterson and several cousins in Connecticut , New York and Wisconsin . John will be missed by his much loved house pets Sugar, Tiger and Buttons . Arrangements; Relatives and friends are asked to go directly to St.Bridgets Church 175 Main St. Cheshire on Wednesday August 6.2008 for a 10:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial. Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm. At the Slater Funeral Home 242 So. Main St. Cheshire. Burial will be in St.Bridget Cemetery .
