Obituary of Audrey McCarthy Rehor

Audrey (Vadnais) (McCarthy) Rehor, age 85, of Cheshire entered into rest on June 16, 2017 at The Village at East Farms with her loving family by her side.  She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph M. McCarthy and the late Douglas C. Rehor.  Audrey was born on January 20, 1932 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Josephine (Giglio) Miserez and the late Edgar Vadnais and was a Cheshire resident for 54 years.

Mrs. Rehor was a receptionist at Cheshire Academy for 17 years and a dispatcher at the Cheshire Senior Center.  In her retirement, Mrs. Rehor volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital and the Cheshire Senior Center.  She was a communicant of St. Bridget’s Church and a member of the St. Bridget’s Ladies Guild and the Red Hat Society.

She is the beloved mother of Jane McCarthy of Watertown and Joseph “Rick” McCarthy and his wife, Lauren of Lorton, VA.  Audrey is also survived by her loving grandchildren, David and Natalie, and her cherished cat, Sassy. 

Audrey lived life to the fullest, with an unwavering positive faith despite her cancer.  She was endeared by her family as the Matriarch of her family for the past several years.  Her influence and love will live on forever.

Friends may greet her family at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 So. Main St., Cheshire, CT 06410 on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 6PM to 8PM.  On Wednesday, June 21, 2017 her funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 9:15AM for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10AM in St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire.  Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, 2324 E. Main St., Waterbury.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3045 or to Poodle Rescue CT, P.O.
