Obituary of Elsie D. Neuffer

Elsie Dorothea (Weiss) Neuffer, 83, passed away peacefully, with her loving husband by her side, on June 19, 2017, at Masonicare Health Center in Wallingford, CT. She was the devoted wife and soulmate of Carl Frederick Neuffer for nearly 61 years.

Elsie was born on July 5, 1933, in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of the late Hugo and Elsa (Saggau) Weiss. In addition to her husband, Elsie is survived by her daughters, Kristina Farina and her husband, Charles of Plainville, CT, Heidi Neuffer of Lexington, KY and Monica Baldwin of Memphis, TN, and is the grandmother of three cherished grandchildren, Jennifer and Kelly Farina and Wade Baldwin IV. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Dorothy Weiss, a niece Rebecca Haley, and nephews David (Tracy) and Keith (Nerissa) Weiss of New Hampshire. She was predeceased by her brother, Freddy Weiss and her sister, Margot Weiss.

Elsie’s life was filled with love and guided by her Lutheran faith. She most cherished time spent with her family. She loved music, theater, and dancing. Fred and Elsie were often the last to leave the dance floor! She enjoyed a robust social life and maintained a myriad of lasting friendships --some dating back to her kindergarten and church confirmation classes. Elsie’s hard work and strong business skills enabled her to juggle a full-time job, raise three children, and help run Fred’s machine tool business in her “spare” time. She loved to play games, including tennis, bridge, and mahjong. She will be fondly remembered by those she touched with her kindness and generosity. “Well done, good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your Master.”

The family wishes to extend gratitude to the staff of Masonicare Health Center for their wonderful care and support of Elsie for the past two years and in her final days.

A memorial service for Elsie Neuffer will be held Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Cheshire Lutheran Church, 660 West Main Street, Cheshire, CT. A private burial will follow for only family and invited friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Elsie’s name to The Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492, or Cheshire Lutheran Church, 660 West Main Street, Cheshire, CT 06410.
