Obituary of Marilyn Gaudet

Marilyn Gaudet - Devoted and Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother, Charming, Empathetic, Gracious, Maternal, Nurturing, Thoughtful, Well-Spoken, and Most of All, Loving…A Class Act

Marilyn entered eternal life peacefully, at home surrounded by her family. She is the wife of her devoted husband, Ronald Gaudet, Sr. with whom she was married for 65 years.

Marilyn was born in New Jersey, the daughter of the late Edwin and Harriet (Hendrickson) Kiepe. After being raised in New Jersey, she was a longtime resident of Cheshire, having moved with her husband, Ron, from North Haven in 1961. She was an avid golfer, bridge player and tennis player.  She also volunteered frequently. She was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of Friends of the Cheshire Library.

She taught her children that family is the most important thing in life. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Ronald Gaudet, Jr. of West Haven, CT; her daughters Lisa Bishop and husband Mark Bishop of Cheshire, CT and Gigi Gaudet of Stamford, CT; her sister Constance Gannon of CA.  She also enjoyed her six grandchildren, Ronald Gaudet III and Billy Gaudet both of West Haven, CT; Josh Bishop of Putnam Valley, NY; Jeremy Bishop of Prospect, CT; Scott Booth of Newport, RI and Caroline Booth of Stamford, CT; four nieces and one nephew.  She is predeceased by her daughter, Caroline Gaudet.

Her children and grandchildren remember her as gentle, involved, kind, nurturing, aware, patient and, most of all loving. She was also a wonderful cook.  When the family was young, the children always had a delicious, well-balanced meal on the table. While she was most interested in our individual lives, forever cheering us on, she was also keenly aware of and enjoyed discussing current events right up to the end. She had a beautiful, warm smile that lit up the room and communicated in a heartbeat that she was proud of us, loved us and was there for us.  One grandchild commented that one could not ask for a better grandmother.  She told us to “dream big” and encouraged each one of us to pursue our goals.  She was our biggest fan.

Arrangements - Friends may greet Marilyn’s family on Thursday, July 6 at the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main Street, Cheshire, CT from 4 PM to 7 PM.  Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Marilyn Gaudet to Friends of the Cheshire Library, 104 Main St. Cheshire.
