Obituary of Scott E. Clark
Scott E. Clark, 38, of Cheshire died peacefully on Wednesday, June 21st at Masonicare Hospice, Wallingford, CT after a long illness. He was the son of Nancy Oberst Clark and the late Dennis P. Clark, also of Cheshire. He is survived by his twin brother Gregory P. Clark of Sandy Hook, CT, his sister Rachel S. Clark of Brooklyn, NY, and his maternal grandmother, Jean (Ginger) Oberst, also of Cheshire.
Scott was born on December 6, 1978 in Sylvania, Ohio, and at six weeks old, moved with his family to Cheshire, his mother’s home town. He attended Cheshire schools through his graduation from Cheshire High School in 1997, his artistic talents becoming evident from his earliest years. Scott received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Southampton College of Long Island University, NY in 2001, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
Cheshire residents may recall “that tall blonde guy” who worked part-time at Cheshire Video & Disc during his college years. Scott interned with The Silverman Group in New Haven, which led directly to his employment as the graphic designer for the Jewish Community Center of Woodbridge, CT. During that time, he freelanced as a logo designer for area sports teams.
It was during these years that Scott had to undergo brain tumor surgery. Following his rehabilitation at Gaylord Hospital, he joined Basement Systems in Seymour, CT, initially as their only graphic designer, but as the business grew, he became the Director of Creative Marketing. The reoccurrence of a brain tumor ended Scott’s professional career. Circumstances dictated his moving to Fort Wayne, IN in 2015, but he frequently told others, “Connecticut will always be my home.” He returned to Cheshire in March of this year to receive Hospice services at the family home.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 28th at Alderson-Ford Funeral Home, 615 South Main St., Cheshire, CT from 4:00 till 6:00 p.m. Funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be sent to the dynamic and dedicated team at Masonicare Home Health and Hospice, 22 Masonic Avenue, Wallingford, CT 06492.
