Obituary of Mary Lou Cahill
CHESHIRE - Mary Louise Cahill, 86, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2017 surrounded by her family at MidState Medical Center in Meriden.
Mary Lou, daughter of the late John M. and Mary Gannon Buckley, was born on December 18, 1930 in Teaneck, NJ. She graduated from Teaneck High School and Fairleigh Dickinson University. Mary Lou married Gerald C. Cahill in 1953 and has resided in Cheshire, CT since 1966. Mary Lou managed Dr. David Boland’s dental practice for 27 years. She spent many years volunteering at her children's schools and for the American Red Cross as the record keeper for blood drives in Cheshire. Mary Lou took great pleasure spending time with her family, reading, playing cards, analyzing the stock market, and watching her beloved New York Yankees and Giants teams.
Mary Lou is predeceased by her husband, Gerald C. Cahill, her son, Gerald M. Cahill, her sisters Anne Bachman and Claire McGurr, and her brothers, Lawrence, Gerald and Raymond Buckley. She is survived by her sister Jean Wiegand (Frank) of Fredericksburg, VA and sister-in-law Margaret Buckley of Plymouth, MA.
Mary Lou is also survived by her daughter Claire Ruddy (Stephen) of Milford, CT and son Thomas (Lisa) of Medfield, MA, daughter-in-law Louanne Cahill of Marietta, GA, her grandchildren, Erin Ruddy (Stephanie) of West Hartford, CT, Mary Kate Thompson (Benjamin) of Cromwell, CT, Ryan Cahill (Natalie) of Acworth, GA, Christopher Cahill of Marietta, GA, Jason Nash (Chela) of Puerto Rico, Matthew, Jack and Perri Cahill of Medfield, MA, her six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family truly appreciates the wonderful care given to Mary Lou by her current caregiver, Patty Germano, and the staff of MidState Medical Center especially Katelyn Spence APRN, Kay Yarmatino RN, Dr. Zeb Ali, Dr. Mohammed Sharif and the many years of excellent treatment given to her by Dr. James Sarfeh.
Arrangements – Funeral services for Mrs. Cahill will be held on Wednesday April 12, 2017, 10:30 from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. to St. Bridget Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday morning from 9:30 until the funeral procession leaves for church.
