Dr. T was not only my Physician for the past 25 years since he was on Cook Ave but was also a true friend. He talked to me about my fear of my teenage son obtaining his private pilot license and now going to College for flying. He spoke highly of his love for flying and the fact that our son's are the same age and both enjoy it so. It is a terrible waste of a true talent in the business of helping people recover from their medical issues. It is very difficult to think that he will not be in that office anymore doing what he did best. My true condolences to his family, friends and colleagues, I will truly miss him.

Today we said goodbye to a wonderful man that I was privileged to have known for > 14 years. He was a great boss, mentor, and friend. I also considered him family as did most of the people in our office. He loved his family and beamed when he spoke of them and their accomplishments. He would often show me the latest pics and videos of Frankie + I'd share those of Wyatt. He told me I'd love being a grandparent and he was so right. He truly cared for his patients and from their stories I knew they cared for him as well. My thoughts and prayers are with his amazing family- Eve, Nick, Danny, + Frankie. Miss you Dr T.

Eve,Nicholas and Daniel. What do you say when I'm sorry for your loss is totally inadequate? I haven't found it but I sure feel it. Joe was my Dr since he joined IMA Group I couldn't have been more fortunate. He was a top notch physician but also a regular guy. Eve, since I was also a patient (client?) of yours the 2 of you know as well or maybe even better than my wife of 46 years. I will miss you both. God speed and God bless

Dear Dr. Tomanelli's Family,
I am so sorry for your loss . This saddens me deeply. I can't even imagine your pain. Dr. Tomanelli has been my Doctor for 23 years. He tried everything to get me healthy, or at least make me feel better . Tough Job. But he never gave up on me. Knowing how I felt about myself, he truly felt for me. I can feel this coming from him. He was so kind with his approach.
We not only talked about my health, we talked about lots of things. Many times, I would get him to really laugh out loud with my remarks. I'm very out-spoken . Yes, he was my Doctor, but I also considered him my friend. I will miss him profoundly.
It will be very hard to find ( in-this-day-and-age ) another Doctor/Person who was as genuine as Dr. Tomanelli was.
I hope knowing that so many people cared for him , that it helps ease some of your pain. Take Care. Ms Dale Aliff
My husband found this poem really blowing all around on the ground , he actually had to catch it. Don't know who wrote it. I think it's beautiful. I hope it's ok/appropriate to share . .
" And if I go, while you're still here . .
Know that I live on, vibrating to a different measure.
Behind a thin veil you cannot see through, you will not see me.
So you must have faith.
I'll wait the time when we can soar together again, both aware of each other.
Until then, please live your life to it's fullest.
And when you need me, Just whisper my name in your heart.
. . . I will be there. "

Joe has been our family Dr. for many years and is MORE than our family Doctor. As a pilot, Joe and I discussed years ago his best way to purchase a used aircraft. With the assistance of Rob Carlson,, the former manager of the Maintenance Dept. at MMK, Joe got into flying. During my medical visits, we would usually talk about air related things as well. I was aware of Joe's interest in purchasing a higher speed aircraft in preparation to his future planned relocation to the south with commuting to Connecticut for 3-4 days a week then returning to the south for the balance of the week.
Besides our mutual love of flying, Joe is the one that spotted a life threatening condition with my wife and, with his referral to a cardiologist, a serious condition was identified and, with a rushed referral to an electrophysiologist, a pacemaker was installed to correct her heart that was only functioning 40% of the time. Without these intercessions, I have been told, it is probable that my wife would no longer be alive at this time. For the skills of Dr. T, I am eternally grateful and will remain so for the rest of her and my life.
I will miss you, my friend, and look forward to seeing you when it is my turn to land in the next life.

Dr.Tomanelli was my wife's doctor from the early 90's. She was one of his first patients. He always seemed genuinely concerned with the well being of his patients. He is going to be greatly missed.Whoever becomes the caregiver of Dr. Tomanelli's patients will have some very large and caring shoes to fill.

It is with great sadness and sense of loss that we heard of Joe's death. As our doctor of many years, we considered him not only a caring and skilled physician and health advocate but also a friend. He had a terrific sense of humor and a warm manner. When we retired and moved from Cheshire to the Norwich area six years ago, we asked him if he could recommend a physician closer to us, he said, "Why? I didn't move away from you. You moved away from me." We realized then how much he cared for each of his patients personally. And so it was that since 2011 we have commuted an hour and fifteen minutes each way for our physicals and non-emergency visits.
At our last physical in March, Joe talked so much about Nick and Daniel and where they were going in their careers. It seemed like yesterday that he was asking M.E. what she thought about their college choices!
May God bless your family as Daniel heals physically and you all heal emotionally. We hope you come to a place where you find comfort in remembrances of the fullness of the life Joe lived and the wonderful times you spent with him.

I truly and sincerely will miss him. May God bless you all during this time.

Dr. T was just the BEST. It was such a privilege to work with him at Westfield. When I was a new nurse his trust, calm demeanor and sense of humor helped build my confidence. He taught me so much! If we weren't talking about a mutual patient, he was bragging about how proud his boys made him, sharing stories about trips with his wife, or talking about his love of flying. I have been so sad since his passing. The world lost a brilliant, wonderful man. I know his Westfield family will never be the same. My condolences to his family. We can all take comfort in knowing that in his short time on Earth he positively impacted thousands of lives.
