Obituary of Maybelle Bens
Cheshire Maybelle Bens, 94, formerly of Cornwall Ave. passed away Saturday April 5, 2008 at Mid-State Medical Center in Meriden. She was the beloved widow of Fred Bens. Mrs. Bens was born June 8, 1913 in Richmond, ME the daughter of the late Clarence and Alma (Hatch) Robinson. She resided in Springfield, MA and the Foxon areabefore moving to Cheshire in the late 1930s. She graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at the Masonic Home in Wallingford. She participated as a volunteer for the Girl Scouts, 4H, the Cheshire Grange, American Red Cross, and the First Congregational Church of Cheshire where she was a member of the Ladies Aid. Mrs. Bens is survived by her three daughters Louise Silverman and her husband Lewis of Cheshire, Doris Bens and her husband Louis Casabona of Cheshire, and Virginia Norton and her husband William of Rochelle Park, NJ; her granddaughter Dana Johansen of CA; and her two great grandchildren Samantha Erisman and Sofi Johansen. Arrangements A private graveside service will be held in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
