Obituary of Kathleen Salerno

Kathleen M. Salerno, Special Olympic Athlete, 34 of Terrell Rd, died April 9,2008. She Leaves her loving and devoted parents Robert J. and Jane (Ackerman) Salerno Sr. and Brother Robert J.Salerno Jr.She was born in Waterbury on December 31,1973 She attended Wilby High School .Kathleen was a special Olympian ,and received numerous medals for several events including swimming, bowling,standing long jump and the 50 yard dash. She never let her muscle problems slow her activities, and in recent years she enjoyed traveling, the theater,and going to the casino. Kathleen worked 5 days a week at Easter Seals of Waterbury.She enjoyed going to work everyday, and always reported to her family all the events of her workday.Her friends and coaches at Easter Seals were her second family.Kathleen was a sweet and innocent soul, who never asked for anything but the love of her family and friends. Her spirit will live with us forever. Kathleen is predeceased by her Paternal grandparents Sam and Elizabeth Salerno and her Maternal grandparentsKenneth and Winifred Ackerman.Arrangments;Funeral services for Kathleen will be from the Mulville Funeral Home 270 West Main St Waterbury on Saturday April 12 at 9:30 Am to Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00 am. Calling hour will be from 8:30 to 9:30 am Saturday morning at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mt.Olivet cemetery in Watertown.
