Obituary of Richard Klingman
NAUGATUCK, Conn.- Mr. Richard E. Klingman, 93, of 15 Hilltop Rd., Naugatuck, died Sunday morning April 13, 2008 at the Beacon Brook Health Center. He was the husband of the late Hilda (Ryerson) Klingman for over 65 years, until her death in 2005. Mr. Klingman was born in Middletown, N.Y., Aug. 8, 1914, a son of the late Charles A. and Mary Agnes (Lynch) Klingman and had been a Naugatuck resident for the past 37 years, moving here from Park Chester, N.Y. He was a graduate of Middletown High School, and Bentley University in Boston, Mass. He was a devout, lifelong Roman Catholic having served as an Altar Boy at Mt. Carmel Church in Middletown in his youth and was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Naugatuck. He retired in 1985 as Director of Corporate Insurance with Uniroyal, Inc. with over 47 years of service. He enjoyed traveling all over the world during his career, but he enjoyed his family more than anything else. He leaves one son, Richard T. Klingman of Morristown, N.J.; four daughters, Mary C. Samaras of Tinton Falls, N.J., Jane E. Michaud of Altamont, N.Y., Cathy L. Delano of Staten Island, N.Y. and Caren S. Flynn of Port Monmouth, N.J.; two brothers, Francis J. Klingman of Lutz, Fla., and James M. Klingman of Wappinger Falls, N.Y.; one sister, Elizabeth R. Bosch of Lady Lake, Fla. and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, Charles J. Klingman and his sisters, Margaret Meneely, Isabel Hulse and Teresa Pfleging. The family would like to thank the staff at Beacon Brook Health Center for the wonderful care and concern provided to their father during his stay at the nursing home. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Burial will be at 2 p.m. in Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville, N.Y. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
