Obituary of Irene Demian
Mrs. Irene G. (Hensler) Demian, 90, of Waterbury died unexpectedly Friday April 18, 2008 at her home. She was the widow of Peter Joseph Demian. Mrs. Demian was born February 18, 1918 in Queens, New York a daughter of the late Louis and Martha (Wenzel) Hensler and has been a Waterbury resident since 1945. She was educated in Queens and was a private secretary for Worths Clothing Store retiring after many years of service. She had also worked at Clydel Manufacturing in Waterbury. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern star in Waterbury and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Plymouth where she was a former Sunday School Teacher. She was also an advocate and supporter of many animal welfare groups. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Irene was a very spiritual person who had a wonderful and kind heart, who will be sorely missed by her family and many friends. She leaves her son, Peter L. Demian of White River Junction, VT, her daughter, Martha J. DeCarlo and her husband Joseph of Watertown, her grandchildren, Kristin L. Rinaldi of Honolulu, Max M. Demian of Concord, NH, Jonathan D. DeCarlo and his wife Vanessa of Thomaston, CT, Gretchen Losee and her husband Andrew of Arlington, VA and her great grandson Joshua M. DeCarlo. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Henrietta and Michael Florio. Funeral services for Irene will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury 9 Holmes Ave. Burial will follow in New Pine Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
