Obituary of Frank JR

Waterbury; Frank E.Hess Jr. 83 of Waterbury, died peacefully at the Englewood Community hospital in Florida. He was the husband of the late Ruth (Goodale) Hess. Mr. Hess was born in Waterbury on April 18,1924. He was the son of the late Frank E. and Lena C.Herman Hess Sr. Frank Attended Bunker Hill School and Cheshire Acadamy.He was a graduate of the University of Bridgeport in which he earned a degree in business. Mr.Hess was a Gunnersmate with the U.S.Navy in WWII. He was the President and CEO of Blakeslees Furs in Waterbury. He was also a master furrier for 45 years. Mr. Hess was a member of the Waterbury Lyons club, the Veterans of foreign war and the American Legion and the Bunker Hill Congregational church Mr Hess is survived by one daughter Sharon(Hess) and her husband David West of Waterbury,a sister Dorothy(Hess) Spears of Boston, Ma. He was the grandfather of Sarah(West) and her husband Kevin LaChapelle and Brandon West and the great-grandfather of Nicholas LaChapella. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews and a longtime companion of Betsy Stamates.A memorial service will be held on Saturday April 26 at 10:am in the Bunker Hill Congregational Church 274 Bunker Hill Ave Waterbury. Burial will be in New St. Josephs Cemetery .There are no calling hours. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury 9 Holmes Ave is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes assoc.
