Obituary of Doris Young

NAUGATUCK- Mrs. Doris Frances (Reed) Young, 77, formerly of Naugatuck, died Wednesday April 23, 2008 at the Waterbury Hospital. Mrs. Young was born in Bridgeport, Feb. 12, 1931, a daughter of the late Edward A. and Dorothy May (Thompson) Reed and had been a Naugatuck resident since 1972, moving here from Bridgeport. She was a retired employee of the T. F. Butterfield Co. She was a communicant of St. Michaels Episcopal Church.She leaves two sons, Harold C. Rapp of Naugatuck, and John H. Bendlak of Westfield, Vt.; 4 daughters, Dorothy Rapp of Thomaston, Linda Ann Sturtevant of Berlin, Ct., Lila Rose Bendlak of Colebrook, and Dianne Louise Schmelter of Torrington; one brother, LeRoy A. Reed of Stratford two sisters, Vivian Reed of Fairfield, and Evelyn Reed Lockwood of Westport; several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Carl E. Rapp. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Michaels Episcopal Church, 210 Church St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.The Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. is assisting with arrangements.
