Obituary of Lawrence Mullen
Mr. Lawrence Larry Mullen, 65, died April 17, 2008 at his home in Fort Lauderdale, after a brief struggle with cancer. He was the husband of Sandra (DeBlasio) Mullen. Larry was born in Waterbury, CT, son of the late Lawrence and Kathryn (Boyd) Mullen and attended St. Francis Xavier School and Croft High School. He received his B.A. from Fairfield University in 1964 and joined the accounting firm KPMG, where he had a thirty year career. After living in upstate New York, he spent ten years in Europe and traveled extensively. In 1995 he joined Pediatrix in Fort Lauderdale, where he retired in 2001. He was an active supporter of education and the arts. He also supported the South Eastern Guide Dogs Organization and raised a dog for them. Besides his wife he leaves his son Michael Mullen of Washington, DC, his daughter Eileen Mullen and her husband Joseph Kirmes of Stoneham, MA, his sister Patricia Mencio of Waterbury and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial for Larry will be celebrated Friday at 9:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church 625 Baldwin Street, Waterbury. Friends are asked to meet directly at Church. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Glaucoma Society P.O. Box 193940 San Francisco, CA. 94119. The Mulville Funeral Home 270 West Main Street is in charge of arrangements.
