Obituary of Marvin Turner
Mr. Marvin A. Turner, 81, of Cheshire died Wednesday May 21, 2008 at St. Marys Hospital in Waterbury. He was the husband of Nancy (Parker) Turner. Mr. Turner was born August 7, 1926 in Granby a son of the late Frederick Marvin and Nellie (Chidsey) Turner and has been a Cheshire resident since 1959. He was a 1944 graduate of Canton High School and was also a graduate of the University of Denver. Prior to his retirement he was employed as an accountant for many years. He was a radar man serving in the US Navy during WW II. Mr. Turner was a member S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. and was also a longtime member of the First Congregational Church of Cheshire where he served as sexton for ten years. Besides his wife of 58 years, he leaves his son, Fred Turner of Cheshire, his daughters, Marsha Wheeler of Cheshire and Donna Aston of Wisconsin, his brother, Bertlen Turner of Whitehall, NY, three grandsons and three granddaughters. He was predeceased by his brother, Lionel Turner of Avon. Funeral services for Mr. Turner will be held Saturday May 24 at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Cheshire. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Slater Funeral Home 242 South Main Street in Cheshire.
