Obituary of Virginia Krieg
Wallingford - Virginia Nelson Krieg, age 88, formally of Ashlar Village, died May 31, 2008 at Masonic Health care Center after a brief illness. She was the widow of Lawrence E. Krieg. Mrs. Krieg was born in Waterbury on October 11, 1919 and was the daughter of the late Olof and Albertina Polson Nelson. A resident of North Haven from 1951 until 1998 after moving from Hamden, she worked at ACES for over 20 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Alice Chapter of Hamden, a former Girl Scout leader in North Haven, a Literacy tutor, a Volunteer at Connecticut Hospice, Inc., Branford, Parker Farms School of Wallingford and at the Masonic Geriatric Health Care Center in Wallingford. Until recently, she enjoyed bowling, gardening and transporting friends as required. She was a member of the North Haven Congregational Church. She leaves a daughter, Barbara J. Letkemann of Belleville, Ontario, Canada and a son Carl W. Krieg of Cheshire, Connecticut. Four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive her. She is predeceased by her two brothers, Robert & Edward Nelson, two sisters Ruth Lawson and Dorothy Gardner and a grandson. Arrangements - A memorial service will be held on Thursday June 5, 2008 at 1 p.m. at the North Haven Congregational Church, 28 Church Street. Burial will be private in the North Haven Center Cemetery and there are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen for the Cure, Attn.
