Obituary of Julia Smith

Mrs. Julia B. (Butwill) Smith, 97, formerly of West Hills Terr., Naugatuck, died early Wednesday June 11, 2008, at the Mattatuck Health Care Center, Waterbury. She was the widow of Kenneth R. Smith. Mrs. Smith was born in Naugatuck, Aug. 17, 1910, a daughter of the late Joseph and Victoria (Vintis) Butwill and was educated in the local school system and a graduate of Naugatuck High School, she was also a graduate of Post Junior College in Waterbury and had worked for Blakeslee Moving and Storage for several years, retiring from Peter Paul, Inc. in Naugatuck in 1971 with over 20 years of service. She leaves one daughter and her husband, Elaine and Stanley Bridge of Southbury; one son and his wife, Kenneth and Muriel Smith of Perry, Ga.; 7 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 318 Church St. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 8:45a.m. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday morning from 8 a.m. until the procession leaves for church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donors choice.
