Obituary of Peter Spirito

Cheshire- Peter Spirito, 82, of Jinny Hill Rd., passed away on Monday June 23, 2008 at Mid-State Medical Center, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Frances (Tripodina) Spirito. Mr. Spirito was born on Spetember 11, 1925 in New Haven, the son of the late Ernesto and Theresa (Amodio) Spirito. He was a WWII Navy Veteran obtaining the rank of Carpenters Mate 1st Class and served in the Seabees. Mr. Spirito was a long time Cheshire resident and member of the First Congregational Church of Cheshire. He was a Carpenter for the New Haven Carpenters Union, Local #24 for over 50 years. After his retirement, he remained active having many hobbies. Besides his wife of 54 years, Mr. Spirito is survived by his three sons Daniel of Southington, David of Wallingford, and Joseph of Cheshire; his two daughters Naomi OLeary of Cheshire and Sarah of Cheshire; his three brothers Harry of Bristol, Ernest of Hamden and Robert of New Haven; his two sisters Evelyn Lape of Cheshire and Helen Erba of Cheshire; seven grandchildren Sarah, Shelly and Lisa Brayfield, Rachel and Patrick OLeary, Olivia Maturo and Hunter Peters; a great grandson Gavin Brayfield; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister Ida. Arrangements A memorial service will be held on Friday June 27, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, 111 Church Drive. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours will be held in the Church parlor from 4 p.m. until the time of the service.
