Obituary of Irene Holland
Irene 'Joyce' (Schriver) Holland, 74, of 200 Westbury Park Road, Watertown, passed away Friday, June 27, 2008 at Waterbury Hospital Intensive Care Unit. She was surrounded by her daughter-Kathy, son-in-I.aw-Bob, grandson-Matthew, sister-Judy, son-Michael and daughter-in-Iaw-Michelle. She was the widow of Frederick E. Holland. Joyce as she was known to family and friends and Nana to her grandchildren was born March 30, 1934 in St. Francis, Maine and was the daughter of the late Ida (Thibodeau) and Curtis Schriver, Sr. She worked at Waterbury Hospital for 20-plus years prior to her retirement in 1996. Joyce, prior to recent illnesses was an avid reader who loved to do crossword puzzles, play cards, travel with her daughter - Kathy and her sister - Judy and go to the casino. She was also a great cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family. She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn and her husband, Robert Geddes whom she has made her home with for the past 30 (thirty) years since the passing of her husband Fred. Her grandson, Matthew Geddes, also of Watertown with whom she lived. Her son Michael Holland and his wife Michelle of Meriden with their five children - Daniel, Alyssa, Anna, Timothy Michael and Alexa. Her granddaughter, Amanda Holland Mastropietro of Waterbury, daughter of her predeceased son Timothy John Holland. She is also survived by her sister, Judy Monte of Waterbury, her brother, Joseph 'Allen' Schriver and his wife Edna of Murrells Inlet, SC, Brother-In-Law Raymond Holland and his wife Ruth of Woodbury, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Joyce was predeceased by her sister Greta LaFrance of Massachusetts and her brother Curtis Schriver, Jr. of New Hampshire. Her funeral will be held on Monday June 30th, at 9:15 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave. to St. John the Evangelist Church, Watertown, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will be in New Pine Grove Cemetery, Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m
