Obituary of Loretta Driscoll

Cheshire Loretta B. Driscoll, 97, of Old Towne Rd. passed away Tuesday July 29, 2008 at the Highlands Health Care Center. She was the widow of the late Leo Driscoll.Mrs. Driscoll was born June 12, 1911 the seventh of eight children, in Massena, NY the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (LaRue) Blanchette. She moved to Oneida, NY while in high school and graduated from Oswego Normal School and Potsdam State Teachers College. She taught in the Syracuse School District for 20 years before becoming an Instructional Specialist prior to her retirement in 1973.After her retirement, Mrs.Driscoll became a Real Estate Broker. She married her husband Leo and moved to Cheshire in the late 80s. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society and the League of Women Voters. Over the years she was active in two bowling leagues in Wallingford and Hamden and enjoyed golfing at Sleeping Giant Golf Course.Mrs. Driscoll is survived by her two daughters Colleen M. Driscoll PhD., Joanne Hale and her husband Gerald both of Cheshire; four grandchildren Tara M. Knopick and her husband Robert, Michael Hale and his wife Jill, Jonathan Hale and his wife Sara, and Carrie Johnson and her husband Jason; two great grandchildren Rose Maguire and Sydney Hale. She is predeceased by her brothers Arthur, Frank, Napoleon, William and Leonard and her sisters Pauline and Evelyn. Arrangements Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 2, 2008, 9:30 a.m. at St. Thomas Becket Church, N. Brooksvale Rd. Cheshire. Friends are asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
