Obituary of Charles Cooper

Charles Burleigh Cooper, Jr., 88, died at his home on Friday August 15, 2008, from complications of Alzheimer's Disease. He was the husband of Hope (Ferguson) Cooper.He was born on April 18, 1920 in Parkesburg, P A, the son of the late Charles and Lettie (Book) Cooper. He graduated from Franklin and Marshall College and received his master's degree from Cornell University and his doctorate from the University of Maryland. He was a Professor of Physics at the University of Delaware for 35 years.Besides his wife of 63 years, Dr. Cooper is survived by his daughter Jane and her husband Ian Meakin, of Cheshire; his son Charles Burleigh Cooper, III and his wife Janice McOmber, of Emerald Hills, CA; and his grandchildren Sarah, Julia, and Karl Meakin of Cheshire; Katherine Myers-Cooper of Ithaca, NY; Ryan Cooper of Emerald Hills, CA; and Burleigh Sabin of Santa Cruz, CA. He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Hope Cooper, of Ithaca, NY.Funeral services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
