Obituary of Matthew Stevenson

MIDDLEBURY- Mr. Matthew Harbison Stevenson, Jr., 90, of 93 Fenn Rd., died Friday Aug. 15, 2008 at his home. He was the husband of the late Laura (Nichols) Stevenson. Mr. Stevenson was born in Crafton, Penn. June 5, 1918, a son of the late Matthew H. Stevenson, Sr. and Mary (Alexander) Stevenson and had been a Middlebury resident for 53 years, moving here from Naugatuck. He was a veteran of WW II, serving as a Bombardier with the Army Air Corps and retired in 1978 from the State of Conn., Dept of Environmental Protection where he was employed for over 31 years, as a conservation officer. He was a member of the Middlebury Congregational Church. He leaves one son, Matthew H. Stevenson, III of Thomaston; two daughters, Pricilla Stevenson of Watertown, and Linda Aquavia of New Hartford; one brother, Malcolm Stevenson of Sarasota, Fla. and 5 grandchildren, Matthew Stevenson, IV, Michelle Stevenson, Marissa Stevenson, Laura Aquavia, and Sara Aquavia .Private funeral services will be held on Tuesday at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will be in Middlebury Cemetery.
