Obituary of Clara Douty

NAUGATUCK- Mrs. Clara (Snyder) Douty, 105, formerly of 324 Quinn St., died Friday Aug. 15, 2008 at the Glendale Center. She was the widow of Richard A. Douty. Mrs. Douty was born in Moreland County Twp., Penn., a daughter of the late John and Anna (Smith) Snyder and moved to Naugatuck in 1933 from Williamsport, Penn. She retired in 1968 from the Lewis Engineering Co. with over 25 years of service. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Naugatuck and a former member of the Beacon Valley Grange, the Salem Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons, and had participated in the John Caskey Art Group at the Naugatuck Senior Center. She leaves 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her children, David Douty, Donald Douty and Normagene Lawlor and her brothers, Albert and Omar Snyder and her sister, Martha Long.Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9 a.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday after 8:30 a.m.
