Obituary of Robert Davis
Robert B. Davis, 88, died peacefully on August 28, 2008 at Mid- state Medical Center in Meriden, CT. He was born on May 18, 1920 to William Noble and Ethel Sulham Davis.After graduating from Milford High School in New Hampshire, and Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, he worked for General Electric in Schenectedy, NY. He served in the Army during WWII until 1946. He retired from the New England Telephone & Telegraph Company after 36 years of service.He was a Life Member of the American Legion Riccardi-Hartson Post #23 in Milford, NH, a Life Member of Masonic Bible Lodge #27, F&AM in Goffstown, NH, and a member of Masonic Island Pond Lodge #44 in VT. Bob was a Past Commander of the Amoskeag Power Squadron in Manchester, NH, Past District Commander of the United Stated Power & Sail Squadron, and a member of Winooski Power & Sail Squadron in Burlington, VT. He enjoyed sailing, gardening, woodworking, hunting and fishing. Bob was always active in church and community, serving on school boards in NH and as Church Treasurer in Westmore, VT.He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Phyllis Goodwin Davis, daughter Jane and her husband Ron Goldberg of Cheshire, CT, William Davis and his wife Beverly of Brownington, VT, and Jeff Davis and his wife Terri of San Jose, CA, as well as grandchildren Paul Goldberg, Jim, Cameron, and Ian Davis, and Bill, Andy, and Shelley Davis.A Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westmore Community Church or the Westmore Ladies Aid Society Scholarship Fund. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire is in charge of arrangements.
