Obituary of Walter Morris
NAUGATUCK-Walter M. Morris, 87, of Naugatuck, died Saturday Oct.4, 2008 at the Waterbury Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Patricia J. (Truesdell) Morris.Mr. Morris was born in Danbury, Mar. 28, 1921, a son of the late Howard G. and Lillie P. (Miller) Morris and had been a Naugatuck resident since 1987, moving here from Danbury. He grew up in Danbury and attended local schools. He served in the Navy for 6 years during W W II, serving in the pacific and during Pearl Harbor. He remained in the Naval Reserve for 20 years. He had worked for Metropolitan Life Insurance Co., and had been a carpenter, working for numerous contractors He also had been employed by Leaheys Fuel and worked at the Danbury Fair Grounds. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, Southbury Ward and was a member of several Masonic organizations including, Union Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Danbury, where he was a Past Master; The Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Bridgeport; the Lafayette Consistory, 32nd degree, Valley of Bridgeport; the Pyramid Shriners of Milford and the Candlewood Shrine Club of Danbury. He is survived by his wife and he was predeceased by two brothers, George and Howard and was the father of 5 children; Daughters, Susan Morris of Brookfield, Kathleen and husband Robert Henion of New Milford, Barbara and husband Charles Buddy Noyce of Bethel, Anna Mae and husband John Rocco of Brookfield; son, Walter M. Morris and wife, Cathy of Vermont; 5 grandchildren, Timothy, Kate, Matthew, Daniel and William and one brother, Joseph Morris and wife, Eleanor of Southbury and numerous nieces ad nephews and last but not least, his beloved pet Shiloh A memorial service will be held on Saturday Oct. 11th at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ, Latter Day Saints 1021 Roxbury Rd.,Southbury. There are no calling hours. The Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. is assisting with arrangements.
