Obituary of Irene Sweeney

Cheshire- Irene Sweeney, 94, of 40 Cook Hill Road, died Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at her son's home in Maryland. She was the wife of the late Albert Sweeney. Mrs. Sweeney was born on May 3, 1914 in Waterbury, daughter of the late Joseph E. Bolger and Rose Marie (Gooding) Bolger. She was a Cheshire resident since 1948. She received her master's degree in teaching from the University of Connecticut and taught for 38 years in the Waterbury school system. Mrs. Sweeney was a long time member of St. Thomas A. Becket Catholic Church in Cheshire.Mrs. Sweeney is survived by her two sons, Dr. Albert T. Sweeney of Darnestown Maryland, and Dr. Gary W. Sweeney of Verona, Wisconsin, seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Arrangments: Her funeral services will be held on Saturday Oct 11, from the Slater Funeral Home 242 So.Main St Cheshire at 9:30 AM, to St. Thomas Becket Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M Calling hour will be from 8:30 to 9:30 Saturday morning at the funeral home.
