Obituary of Richard Moniot

Richard P. Moniot, 89, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2009 at his home. He was predeceased by his wife Mildred (Jones) Moniot whom he married on September 23, 1953. Richard was born February 20, 1919 in Philadelphia, PA. He was the son of the late Achille Eli and Myrtle Waugh (Ashcraft) Moniot. Richard served in World War II as a Master Sergeant following his service he attended the University of Pennsylvania at Wharton's School of Business where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree and the winner of The Adam Averell Prize Award, Class of 1948. Following College he worked as a C.P.A and was eventually the managing partner of the Waterbury, CT office of Peat, Marwick, and Mitchell Inc. prior to his retirement in 1980. Richard was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist in Southbury. He was a member of the Waterbury Club, the Eastward Ho Country Club in Chatam, MA. In his spare time he loved fly fishing, golf, and was an avid bridge player. Richard is survived by his son, Paul A. Moniot of Columbia, SC, and a daughter Meredeth L. Moniot of Middlebury. Arrangements- There are no services and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury is in charge of the arrangements.
