Dear Luanne and Family, Please accept Sharon and my deepest sympathy. While our families have drifted apart over the years since we left Lewiston we will always cherish the good times we had together. In Lewiston there was hardly a week that went by when Rich and I were not up to something together. If it wasn't scouts there was always something to fix, build or discuss. When anyone needed a hand he was there with two big ones. Rich did everything from the heart and that's what made him special and a true friend.

I knew Mr. Gibson during their family's time in Lewiston, NY. Dave was in my scout troop. The Gibsons were great people. As I have gotten older and gotten a better perspective on things, I have come to realize how rare that is. When my family was in need of help, they always stepped up. Mr. Gibson was a real, down to earth person. He helped my build race cars for the boy scouts. He taught me how to use tools. He was fiercely protective of the people he cared about. When I think back to the people who impacted my life the most, Richard Gibson played a pretty big part in who I am today. Thanks, Mr. Gibson. Blair Hoplight

My heartfelt condolences go out to the Gibson Family. I am very sorry for your loss. I just wanted to say that Mr. Gibson had a significant and long impact on my life. 30 years ago he befriended a weird little 10 year old girl. He built her a huge 3-foot tall, 12 room dollhouse from scrap wood in he basement. I wanted to let you know that that dollhouse still is in great shape and is played with my my own children. My 2 kids know about Mr. Gibson and call the house the Gibson house. He may be gone but his legacy of kindness lives on.

Memories from Lewiston. Richard, Luanne and David came into the lives of myself, my children and late wife Patricia via cub scouts and then because of that our families became good friends. From emergency plumbing to building my daughter a two storey doll house from scratch and standing in midwinter selling Christmas trees for the boy scouts, Richard and David were always there. Richard was the engineer in the reconstruction of an above ground pool and in saving my posterior when I put a lit pipe in my back pocket. He contributed to many memories of an unforgettable person with much caring and character and my memories of him will always be cherished. Luanne and David, my thoughts are with you. Most sincerely, Blair J. Hoplight

Dear Luanne and Family, My mood now fits the gloomy day outside now that I have learned of Rich's passing. He was a good guy, down to earth and friendly, and the world needs more like him. Maybe you will feel as I did five years ago when my father passed away after a long illness. I was deeply saddened, but also happy that his suffering was finally over. It doesn't make it any less sad, but nonetheless for me it did help. Sheila and I will keep you and Rich in our prayers.
