Obituary of Herbert Faller
MIDDLEBURY " Mr. Herbert Faller, 83, of 64 Joy Rd, Middlebury, died Saturday April 25, 2009 at the Hospital of St Raphael in New Haven following heart surgery. He was the husband of the late Shirley (Southard) Faller who passed away in 1996.
Mr. Faller was born in Furtwangen, Germany on April 9, 1926 to the late Edwin and Frieda (Niemand) Faller. He grew up in Waterbury and relocated to Middlebury in 1960. He was employed in labor relations/human relations at Scovill Mfg Company and the Waterbury Company and was a member and, former president of the Middlebury Chapter of the AARP. He was also a member of the Naugatuck Valley Industrial Personnel Counsel. Mr. Faller was a local artist who enjoyed painting landscapes, birds and seascapes. He often gave his paintings to his friends.
Mr. Faller is survived by his two daughters. Laurie Blattner and her husband Lawrence of Kewaskum, WI and Karin Sheer and her husband Michel of Cincinnati, as well as four grandchildren, Trey Schotta, Joseph Schotta, Gregory Sheer and Emma Sheer his close cousin Luise (Joe) Puzzo, his brother-in-law Irving "Bill" Southard, and many other friends and relatives. Mr. Faller, known to everyone as "Herb," will be remembered for his sense of humor and congeniality.
At his request, funeral services at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. will be private. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to the Animal Rescue Foundation, PO Box 538, Thomaston, CT.
