Obituary of Theodore Greenberg
SOUTHBURY- Mr. Theodore "Ted" A. Greenberg, 80, of 808-A Heritage Village, Southbury, died early Wednesday morning April 29, 2009 at the Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Cynthia (Lazaroff) Greenberg.
Mr. Greenberg was born in Waterbury Dec. 6, 1928, a son of the late Maurice and Alice (Rubin) Greenberg and was educated in the local school system. He attended Crosby High School and graduated from Suffield Academy and the University of Conn. He was a Southbury resident for the past 10 years, moving from Waterbury. He was a member of Beth El Synagogue and a former President of the Synagogue. He was a member of Shepherd "Salem Lodge # 78 A.F. & A.M. of Naugatuck for over 52 years, and was the former owner of Rubin's Men's Store in Naugatuck, having assumed ownership from his uncle, Abraham Rubin following his retirement. Ted retired in 1990.
Besides his wife of 57 years, he leaves two sons, Richard Greenberg and his wife Claire of St. Louis, MO and Jeffrey Greenberg and his wife Lisa of Weston, MA; one daughter, Susan Toubman and her husband Gary of Newington; one sister Lois Solomon of Westport and 9 grandchildren; Stephen, Shayna, Alison, Zachary, Katherine, Caroline, Diana, Mark and Laura. He was predeceased by a sister Ruth Jennes.
Funeral services will be held on Friday May 1, 2009 at 11 am at Beth El Synagogue, 444 Main St., North, Southbury. Burial will follow in Beth El Cemetery, Boyden St., Waterbury. Shiva will be observed at the Greenberg residence on Saturday May 2nd at 8:30 pm and on Sunday, May 3rd at 6:30 pm. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave. is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Conn.
