Obituary of Geraldine Regan

Cheshire " Geraldine S. Regan, 71, of Cheshire passed away Monday May 18, 2009 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of William A. Regan. Mrs. Regan was born March 1, 1938 in Bronx, NY the daughter of the late William J. and Helen M. (O'Sullivan) Sullivan. She was the Owner and President of G.S. Regan Associates in Waterbury, a business that she started in 1985 after previously working for Aetna Life and Casualty as well as Root and Boyd Insurance Agency. In 2002, Mrs. Regan was recognized by the Business Women's Forum as the Woman of the Year for her leadership and community responsibility. Throughout her career, Mrs. Regan was very active with the Waterbury Chamber of Commerce serving on their Board of Directors as well as many Chamber committees. For over twenty years, Mrs. Regan has been involved with the American Cancer Society and received the Red Sword Gala Award for her tremendous volunteerism. She has chaired the Greater Waterbury Annual "Daffodil Days" drive and in 2000 received the Daffodil Days Award for her outstanding efforts. In the past she also co-chaired the American Cancer Society Annual Hope Gala event. In 2002 she received the Distinguished Service Award for her continued and varied efforts with the American Cancer Society. She was a longtime Cheshire resident where she was an active communicant of St. Thomas Becket Church serving as Past President of the Women's Club. Besides her husband of 51 years, Mrs. Regan is survived by her sons William A. Regan III and his wife Johanna of Claremont, NH, Wayne A. Regan and his wife Diane of Holliston, MA and Michael P. and his wife Dianna of Watertown; her daughter Melanie Regan Gerraughty and her husband James of Pelham, NH; and seven grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother William and her sister Eileen. Arrangements " Funeral services will be held on Friday May 22, 2009 9:15 from the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St. to St. Thomas Becket Church for Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1004 Meriden, CT 06450.
