Obituary of Anthony Handi
Cheshire " Anthony J. Handi, 79, of Contour Dr., passed away May 26, 2009 at Masonicare in Wallingford. He was the husband of Dorothy (Mastrantonio) Handi.
Tony was born June 5, 1929 in Brooklyn the son of the late Albert and Jennie (Celantano) Handi. He was a longtime Cheshire resident having moved to town in 1969 from the Naugatuck Valley. Tony was a Korean War Veteran serving in the Navy. He enjoyed sports, especially UCONN Men's and Women's basketball. He was an avid fan of Cheshire Rams Football having attended games on a regular basis. He was a caring individual who loved his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Tansino and his staff of Mid-State Oncology as well as the Staff at Masonicare for their care and support of Mr. Handi.
Besides his wife of 56 years, Mr. Handi is survived by his son Albert of Cheshire; his daughters Cheryl Handi of Cheshire, Dorothy Greco and her husband John of Northford, and Lisa San Angelo and her husband Francis of Cheshire; his beloved granddaughters Kara Greco, Kimberly Greco, Alyssa San Angelo and Alexandra San Angelo; his two sisters Fran Corey of Idaho and Dorothy Tomasella of CA; and all his neighbors on Contour Drive, which he considered his second family. He is predeceased by his brother Ed and his sister Ann.
Arrangements " A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday May 29, 2009 at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in St. Bridget Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
