Obituary of Claire Wetter
CHESHIRE- Mrs. Claire E. (Zelenka) Wetter, 82, of Cheshire, passed away Sunday August 9th,2009 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford. She was the widow of Melvin Wetter who died in 2004 after 56 years of marriage.
Mrs. Wetter was born in Budapest, Hungary, Jan. 27, 1927 and came to this country at the age of 13, settling in New York in 1940. She moved to Conn. in 1983. She was educated in the New York school system and received her Batchelor's degree from City College and her Masters degree from Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y. She was an educator in the North Bellmore, N.Y. school system for many years and later was an Editor for Macmillan Publishing Group.
She leaves 3 daughters, Vickie Goluboff of Greensboro, NC, Laurey Sandler of Cheshire and Mona Dolgov of Natick, MA and 5 grandchildren
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. in New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Ave., West Babylon, NY. Shiva will be observed at the Sandler residence, 31 South Pond Circle, Cheshire on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. The Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St. is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
