Although I only spoke to you on the phone, your Lebel warmth was felt all the way in California.
I have known your sister Modeste for about 17 years, and through her, I came to know you.
I am sorry we did not get the chance to meet in person. You sang to me on the phone and I was roaring with laughter. Something I always do around your family.
I will do my best to comfort your Sister and family in this very sad time. She and Mike are two of my most cherished friends.
I will pray for their grief to be comforted by God's grace and loving promises.
My heart and prayers go out to the entire Lebel family.

I was saddened to hear that Don had passed, and wish to send my heart felt condolances to Shari and the rest of the family. I was also reminded of the great joy it brought Don to sing and entertain, and the many fond memories we all have of Skip and Don as The Blues Brothers. I hope they find each other again and bring as much fun and laughter to those in heaven as they brought to us on earth. I think often of all our friends that have passed away, and I always try to remember the good times and try to keep their spirit alive. I am sure I will spend even more time now reminising in my mind about the band, Don, Skip, Cookie, Mike, Dom, Art, Fran, Gene, Bob, Ron, etc. and what a truly special time those years were in our lives. I know Don never let me forget, and I will not let him down and never forget him.

My condolences to Shari, Donald Jr, Bobby, Modeste, Tiffany, and all Don's family and friends, of which he had many. Don and I were best friends as teenagers. I went to Tennessee when he was stationed there in the Navy, and we came to California together in 1965. He came back to California in '70 or '71, and we lived next door to each other in Corona. Since then we have kept in touch. We both had AT&T mobile to mobile, so we talked often. (Or he talked and I listened.) I also visited my family in Naugatuck occasionally over the years, and spent most of my time with Don. I will miss him immensely.

On behalf of the Howard family, we would like to send our condolences to you, Modest and Bobbie, for your great loss. My family has such fond memories of growing up on the block @ Jennie's. We have talked so many times about the fun we have shared with your family. Never to be forgotten. The last time I saw Donald was at the Brooklyn reunion many years ago. It was so nice to see him again.

Sympathy to the family and friends of Donald's especially Shari, Abner, Daisy May and Sweet Pea. We will always remember his caring and sharing, as friend and "LeBel Family Historian", the laughter and fun we had eating, singing, clowning around at his and Shari's home, his generosity to his nephew Rich, just before he deployed to Iraq and when his favorite "Tante Catherine" died this past April 20, 2009, through his own pain, he couldn't do enough for my family on our visit. Never will I forget the lobster and white birch beer....pure heaven. He was a a gracious, generous host and all-round great person, and will be missed May the wonderful memories he leaves with you all carry you through the dark. Dean, Teri, Rich and I (katy) wish it was possible to be there with you - we will be there in spirit.
