Dear Family, My most sincere condolences on the loss of Mr. Simisky. He was my chemistry teacher in Cheshire High School during the 75-76 school year, and he was a wonderful instructor. We had tremendous fun and I still remember quite a bit of what I learned in his class (ice cream is a colloid!). I hope you have many wonderful memories of him and take comfort in the fact that he was a big influence for so many students throughout his career. Sincerely, Pat Gallagher

My thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Simisky family. It was a pleasure knowing him as both my teacher and as the head of the Simisky clan. I will cherish the many memories I have including; camping trips to Rocky Neck and playing Boggle-hey you can almost spell argyle!,a comforting hug after getting into a car accident, getting to run the movie at the theater, chemistry lectures at CHS, putting his pocket change into the collection basket at St. Bridgets and getting told to go play in the street. Thank you for the wonderful childhood memories! May you all find peace and comfort in one another and in all of the happy memories. Sincerely, Alison (Burritt) Jedidian

I had Mr. Simisky for chemistry during my junior year at CHS (1993-94). He was the nicest man, and just as importantly, I learned a lot in his class. What I remember most about him, however, were the relationships he had with the students. We genuinely enjoyed being in his class, and he really enjoyed teaching us.

My deepest sympathies to The Simisky Family. Mr. Simisky was first my Chemistry teacher in 1976. He cared for his students and looked after us as we battled a difficult subject. We nicknamed him "Daddy" to which he would just shake his head and give us that quiet smile. We felt important and safe in his classroom and lab. Later on I came to know Mr. Simisky as a family friend through The Proffitt family. It was wonderful to talk to him through the years. Two years ago was the last time Mr. Simisky came to our house. He would attend a Retreat with my husband and brother-in-laws--as we talked and reminiced at one point he shook his head, his blue eyes twinkled and he flashed that smile and I was transported to another time. You will be missed here but will forever touch my heart. Godspeed "Daddy", godspeed

To the Simisky Family, Please accept my deepest condolences at this time upon the passing of Mr. Simisky. Know that the entire family is in our thoughts and prayers at this time. My parents had such true friends in Mr. and Mrs. Simisky, and their friendship spanned decades, which enabled us as kids to get to know the entire family. We had some great times together! It was great attending retreats at Holy Family with Mr. Simisky and my Dad, and my brothers found great comfort in being able to take Mr. Simisky on retreat with us, even after our father had died. As a former student at Cheshire High School, I was very fortunate to have Mr. Simisky as a Chemistry teacher. Not only did he make a very difficult subject fun and interesting, but he provided that continued support and encouragement to get us all through it. He will certainly be missed. Sincerely, Mark Proffitt

I send my heartfelt and heartbroken condolences to Betsy, Mrs. Simisky and the rest of the family on the loss of such a wonderful man. What a sweetheart. Mr. Simisky is a big part of the fact that I am a nurse today. If he hadn't helped me through high school chemistry I wouldn't have been able to get into nursing school. He took a lot of time with a student like me who just couldn't get it. In the end I know he fudged my grades to allow me to graduate. For that I will be eternally grateful. I have a career I love and got to spend 5 years with Bets at Northeastern. She may not think that was the best thing but we had a great time. Mr. Simisky also took us fishing at Sleeping Giant (Well I don't know how much fishing WE actually did but he looked cool in his waders). And let's not forget all the free movies we went to at Cheshire Cinema. How great was that? And how did he find out we stole those pumpkins from what will remain an unnamed farm and put them on the roof of Cheshire High? (Our big, bad escapade!) He knew the Monday we went back to school. We'll never know that answer. Always a smile and a good word every single time I saw him. Even in bad times. And the rose he gave me at a celebration for Bets (last year I believe) was one of the kindest gestures ever. Many good memories are left behind in Cheshire and at the Simisky house. Love you all. Caroline
