Even though I was never allowed to be a part of your life, you seemed to be a wonderful man, husband and father. I wish we could have been friends, I think we could have shared a lot. As you walk with Jesus you will learn the truth. May HE protect and guide Maegan and Lloyd for you until you meet again in Heaven.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Maegan, Lloyd, and the rest of Mickey's family. He will be missed more than anything and there is no doubt that he was taken away from this world much too early. Dear Sonny, Pookie, and the entire McPhee Family, Words cannot express the sadness of losing such a wonderful young man. I am so sorry for your loss. Mickey had a smile that just lit up the room. Without him we (Marilyn's Deli) never would have had a daily hot dog special. More importantly though he was an outstanding person - kind - honest - sincere. The world has lost a great man and Heaven gained an Angel. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. God Bless. Dawn King (former proprietor - Marilyn's Deli)

My prayers go out to the McPhee Family at this difficult time in there lives. There are no words that can take away the pain and sorrow that we all feel for Mickey and the McPhee family. My faith tells me that Mickey is in Heaven and there is no more pain for him. As we try to heal from this loss know that he is in a better place and there is no more suffering. I have been down this road with my mother and let me tell you it is hard to this day. We need to go on and let him go and know that he is safe. As hard as it is to deal with such a loss know that our loved ones when they pass want us to go on and continue with our lives. While Mickey was here with us, he was loved and cared for and in return he loved and took care of others. Mickeys loss is felt throughout the town of Cheshire and all the people that he touched while he was here. Our prayers are with you at this time. Tom Gaetani

There are those we've known over the years, yet don't have the privilege of seeing face to face very much, and when we do it is a rare and pleasant occasion. This is true wether it be a beep on the road or a simple wave in passing. These encounters are such that they invariably leave you with a smile and friendly feeling of warmth. And in their absence, these individuals are thought of and regarded with utmost sincerity, respect and fondness. This is not true of every person we may have come across in our lives....but, I am entirely certain, and for many others as well, it was true with Mickey. He was one of those very special types of people. In learning of his accomplishments, wether through town channels/media or through mutual friends and/or family, it was always an absolute pleasure to hear of his successes. Either within the community or with his own family, it was always a treat to wish him well and pass on accolades and greetings. It was an especially effortless joy to learn about the happiness he'd found in creating his own loving family with his wife and child. My most heartfelt and deepest condolences go out to his wife, his child, brother, sister and entire family-every single person who cared for him. To say the news was saddening would be a gross understatement, I was stunned and speechless. I, and my family will keep you all in our thoughts and hearts as we wish you some way to find eventual peace during this time of devastating loss.

I suppose everyone has a memory or story of Mickey that when compiled together creates a patchwork that shows how much he was loved. Mickey’s life intersected with mine in high school. At first casual acquaintances, with a friendship that quickly grew, I started to spend time with Mickey at his shop behind his house. I was amazed that he was so gifted mechanically at such a young age. I admired him and was thrilled when he would take one of my suggestions on his projects. I looked forward to hanging out at Mickey’s workshop and it became a sanctuary to escape from the world not only for him but for me as well. I think we both felt like we had struggles in our lives that were unfair. Although we never really had any deep conversations there was an unspoken understanding that we in some respect were very much the same. There was great comfort in that for me and created a bond between us. In his shop we could forget about the outside world. Just two kids creating a friendship that will not be forgotten. Although it’s been too long since I have seen Mickey I believe that he has found the peace that we were both looking for in that shop. My deepest sympathies go out to his wife, son, and the rest of his family and friends. Tristan Soybel
