Obituary of John Brouard

WATERBURY- Mr. John Jean-Luc Brouard, 61, of 20 Chipman St., Waterbury, passed away Friday morning Dec. 18, 2009 at his home. He was the husband of Nancy Jean Carrerio and the former husband of Betty (Bergeron) Brouard. Mr. Brouard was born in Sherbrook, Quebec, Canada, Sept. 3, 1948, a son of Robert and Venise (LaPointe) Brouard of Disraeli, Quebec, Canada and had been a Waterbury resident for the past 3 ½ years having formerly lived in Naugatuck. He was a communicant of St. Vincent Ferrer Church in Naugatuck and was a self employed General Contractor. He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran of the Vietnam War having served two tours of duty. He was the recipient of the Presidential Unit Citation, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with Three Stars, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Rife Marksmanship Badge He was a member of Post 201 Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Marine Corps League. He was an avid Motorcyclist and enjoyed country music. He was a professional performer, known as "The Traveling Cowboy" with the hit song "Listen". Besides his wife of 3 ½ years, and his former wife, and his parents he leaves a son, David Brouard of Keene, NH; 3 daughters Brenda Parker of New Ark, OH, Nancie Barnes of Watertown, and Sharon Brouard of Independence, MO.; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, he was predeceased by a brother, Gaetan J. Brouard. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in St Theresa's Cemetery, Disraeli, Quebec, Canada at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 201 Building Fund, 1338 Baldwin St., Waterbury, 06706.
