Obituary of Karen Slater
NAUGATUCK- Mrs. Karen E. Slater, 66, of East Waterbury Rd., passed away Tuesday afternoon Jan. 12, 2010 at the Waterbury Hospital. She was the widow of Donald D. Slater, who passed away in 2006 after over 30 years of marriage.
Mrs. Slater was born in Naugatuck, June 9, 1943, a daughter of Mrs. Anna (Rebenko) Weiss and the late Walter Weiss and had been a Naugatuck resident all of her life. She was educated in the local school system and a graduate of Naugatuck High School. Until her illness, she was employed by Patients Choice Home Care of Waterbury. She was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church of Waterbury and was a former Den Leader of Pack 119 in Naugatuck. She was a member of the Nature Institute at the Mattatuck and a member of the Southford Falls Quilting Club.
Besides her Mother of Prospect, she leaves one son, Christopher B. Slater of Plymouth, NH. She was predeceased by a brother Walter "Jack" Weiss.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1 pm at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, Naugatuck. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1555 Hamilton Avenue Waterbury, CT 06706-2401, or the Conn.
