Obituary of Rosalyn Kaplan

WATERBURY- Mrs. Rosalyn "Roz" (Butler) Kaplan, 85, formerly of Nottingham Terr., passed away Sunday evening Jan. 31, 2010, at Meridian Manor. She was the widow of Zanvil Kaplan. Mrs. Kaplan was born in New York City, Dec. 3, 1925, a daughter of the late Louis and Esther (Wasserman) Butler and had been a Waterbury resident since moving here in 1947. She was a retired employee of Winchester Electronics retiring in 1990 after many ears of service. She had previously been employed at Camatron Mfg. Co. She was a member of B'Nai Shalom Synagogue and was a member of the Couples Club at the Synagogue. She had been a member of the Beth El choir and was also a member of Hadassah. While a resident of Nottingham Terrace, she belonged to the Sociables Club She is survived by her son, Jacob "Jack" Kaplan of Waterbury; a grandson, Bryan Kaplan of Waterbury; a sister-in-law, Ruth Butler of Brooklyn, NY ;a brother-in-law Samuel Kaplan of Rotunda West, FL; several cousins, Robin Butler Kosher of Wallingford, and Shari Butler of Arizona. She was predeceased by her brother, Julius Butler. The family would like to thank the staff of Meridian Manor for their wonder care for Mrs. Kaplan, during her stay there. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday Feb. 2, 2010 at 2 p.m. in Hebrew Benefit Cemetery, Stillson Rd. The family will observe Shiva at the home of her son, Jack Kaplan at 174 Pembroke Ave., Waterbury on Tuesday following the service through Wednesday evening.. The Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave, is in charge of arrangements.
