Obituary of Sally Jacobson
WATERBURY- Mrs. Sally (Halpern) Jacobson, 90, of 31 Nottingham Terrace, Waterbury, died Friday Feb. 12, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the widow of Myer Jacobson.
Sally was born in Naugatuck, April 24, 1919, a daughter of the late Louis and Rebecca (Diamond) Halpern and was a Waterbury resident for most of her life, moving here from Naugatuck. She was educated in the Waterbury school system and was a retired employee of St. Mary's Hospital, where she had worked for over 18 years in the Tumor Registry. She was an original member of the Conn. State Tumor Registrars and was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society at the Harold Leever Regional Cancer Center. She was also a member of Beth El Synagogue, the Sisterhood of Beth El, and Hadassah. While residing at Nottingham Terrace, she was a member and Secretary of the Sociable's and the Activities group.
She leaves one daughter, Susan Jacobson of Woodbury; one sister, Lillian Halpern of Waterbury, and many nieces and nephews who were very special to her. She was predeceased by a beloved daughter Adele Lynn Jacobson, a sister Rose Halpern, and two brothers, Ben Halpern and Harry Halpern..
Funeral services will be held on Sunday Feb. 14, 2010 at 11 am at the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury, 9 Holmes Ave. Burial will be in Brass City Lodge Cemetery, Waterbury. Shiva will observed at the home of her daughter Susan at1056 Main St. South, Unit 16-B, Woodbury on Sunday following the funeral through Tuesday evening.
