Obituary of Charles Adams

Cheshire - Charles Adams, 90, of Cheshire, passed away Wednesday March 3, 2010 at Elim Park Baptist Home. He was the husband of Nora (Daniel) Adams. Mr. Adams was born August 25, 1919 in Bridgeport, the son of the late Nicholas and Tessie (Petrou) Adams. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and was a self employed Accountant. He was a graduate of the University of CT where he obtained his degree in Accounting. He was a faithful member of the First Congregational Church of Cheshire as well as Temple Lodge #16 A.F. & A.M. of Cheshire where he was Past Master. Besides his wife of 65 years, Mr. Adams is survived by his son Ronald and his wife Joan of Wisconsin; his brother John of Milford; two grandchildren Penelope Adams and her fiancé David Townsend of Alaska and Melanie Deardorff and her husband Peter of Kansas; his longtime friend, who he considered a son, Lauri Sarvillina of Jousta, Finland two great grandchildren Heidi and Emily Deardoff and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Nicholas. Arrangements - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday March 17, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Cheshire, 111 Church Dr. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday March 16, 2010 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Alderson Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St. with a Masonic Service being held at 6:30 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Elim Park on Thursday March 18, 2010 at 11 a.m. in Nelson Hall. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Scholarship Fund at the First Congregational Church, 111 Church Dr., Cheshire, CT 06410 or to the Masonic Temple Lodge #16 A.F. and A.M., 9 Country Club Road, Cheshire, CT 06410.
