Obituary of Dorothy Handi

CHESHIRE - Dorothy T. (Mastrantonio) Handi, passed away Monday April 26, 2010 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. She was the wife of the late Anthony J. Handi, who passed away in May of 2009 after 56 years of marriage. Dorothy was born September 13, 1930 in Schnectady, NY the daughter of the late Enrico and Filomena (Esposito) Mastrantonio. She was a graduate of Hamden High School and a long time Cheshire resident. Throughout her years, she enjoyed her special friendships with her Contour Dr. "Extended Family", her trips to casinos, playing bingo and serving her delicious meatballs as well as her Anginetti cookies to family and friends. Dorothy was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was known for always putting her family first with unconditional love. She was most happy being a grandma to her four granddaughters who she loved spending time with. She is survived by her son Albert of Cheshire; her daughters Cheryl Handi of Cheshire, Dorothy Greco and her husband John of Northford, and Lisa San Angelo and her husband Francis of Cheshire; her beloved granddaughters Kara Greco, Kimberly Greco, Alyssa San Angelo and Alexandra San Angelo; her brother Joseph Mastrantonio and his wife Joan; her sister Filomena DeFonzo and her husband John; her sisters-in-law Joyce Handi and Dorothy Tomasella; her brother-in-law John Ferraro; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her granddog, Max Handi. She is predeceased by her sister Estelle Ferraro. The Handi family would like to thank the staff of Connecticut Hospice in Branford as well as Dr. Lalarukh Haider and Dr. Pamela Randolph for their loving care, help and support. Arrangements - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday May 1, 2010 at 10 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 175 Main St., Cheshire. Burial will follow in St. Bridget Cemetery.
