We have been thinking a lot of Dick and Karen lately and decided to google Dick to check his latest contact. We are in a state of shock to read his Obituary.
We remember vividly how Dick n Karen generously volunteered to be our host family during our PhD program at Yale in 1974. They were the first people we met in New Haven. We arrived with a crying baby in tow n Dick arrived with a truckload of furniture that he had bought for$100 and tuna sandwiches and fruits. Their warmth and kindness instantly helped us settle into a new place. We met often and grew very fond of Dick Karen Kristen and Karla. We made it a point to revisit them after we had graduated. We clearly fondly our lunch in New Haven.
Dick was among the kindest n most generous people we had known in the States. Our prayers for his soul andGod bless you all

Dear Kristen, I was out of state when I heard the news of your Dad's passing. My deepest sympathy to you and your Mom for your loss. I will always remember his love of show tunes and all of the Broadway posters like Les Mis and Phantom hanging on your walls. He had a boundless energy that was contagious. May God bless you in these difficult days. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Love, Ann Grace

All of us involved in the arts in Cheshire owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to Richard Conrad. His energy, creativity and drive have encouraged and enriched countless lives with the fine and performing arts activities that he developed. Richard was the founder of Artsplace and long-time Chair of the Cheshire Performing and Fine Arts Committee. The activities that he began over twenty years ago continue today. His legacy continues to influence everyone who participates in the arts in Cheshire and far beyond. Our sympathies to Richard's family from Artsplace staff, students and the CPFA committee.

We wishing you comfort and peace during this difficult time. Dick was an inspiration as an administrator who truly loved the students of his school. His creative ideas sometimes drove us all a little crazy but they always turned out amazing in the end! His dedication was unmatched and we all loved his sense of humor! Dick was an exceptional educator, a marvelous person and friend!

My deepest sympathies to your family. Mr. Conrad, as I still think of him to this day, shared his love of theatre and creative energy with all of us who had the pleasure to partake in one of his productions. Only he could bring the "soul" of a show like "The Wiz" to a community production in Cheshire. He was a joy to work with and I have carried his spirit with me as I moved on to drama school and now to my work as a producer in Hollywood. Mr. Conrad, you were a mentor and a wonderful man. May the angels throw you a kick line and a great big musical encore when you arrive in heaven.
