I met you, Sharon and Lee, about four years ago, at a birthday dinner for Dave's friend, Adrian, at his parents' home. My daughter Zoe just told me about Dave's accident and death. I am so very sorry about your family's loss. I have warm, warm memories of Dave, who spent a day at my house in Austin, TX, a stop along the way on a long road trip he took. He was such an engaging person. Dave lived with verve, and acted with full measure. I wish you all strength, so that as he rests in peace, you may go on and live in peace. Dear Sharon and Lee, When I saw this in the paper I was in shock. David was such a sweet and talented young man. I always enjoyed seeing him and I regret that I had not seen him in quite a while. My heart goes out to both of you and the rest of your family. Please know that I will think of David in my prayers and place a special circle around his spirit. Please accept my deepest sympathy for your great loss.-Sincerely Janette

Although we only spent a day with Dave, he made a lasting impression on us all. Maybe because it was a holiday and we gathered as a family, we felt connected to Dave through his warmth, humor and charm. He entertained us with stories, filled us with admiration as he spoke with genuine love of the special needs people he worked with and made each of us feel richer for having spent time together with him.Our prayers go out to his family and close friends.

We are and will be forever sorry for the loss of David. We always considered him a super star, as are all of the Mitchell boys. We loved being with him and having him at our house. He was unique and had a wonderful ability to look at the humor in a world that seemed at times humorless. We will miss him and our thoughts will always be with his parents.

Dear Sharon, Lee, Garrett and Sam, Susan, Carol and I were deeply saddened to hear of David's untimely death. He was a fine young man, passionate and full of life. I always enjoyed talking with him and hearing his thoughts when visiting at your former home in Bethlehem. I also sensed how much Garrett and Sam looked up to him. I can only imagine the pain and empty place his death leaves in each of your hearts. Know that you are in our prayers and thoughts and will remain so as you go through the difficult days ahead. We are unable to attend the graveside service on Tuesday but want to send you all our love. We deeply appreciate and care for all of you. You are a wonderful family. Love, The Rev. Dr. James R. Wheeler
