Matt... I still think about you every day... So many things have vanished from that time period. I torture myself in thinking that if I had just stayed in communication with you that you'd still be around. I'm sorry for vanishing.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Piedescalzo,
I attended both the YMCA and had Mr. Piedescalzo for Physical Science my freshman year of high school. As someone else mentioned on here, I remember when Matthew was born and how he used to come to the afterschool program with you two. I am grieved to hear of your loss and pray that your hearts are comforted.

Oh Karen I am so sorry for the loss of your son. I can't even imagine what you and Vinny are going through. Words are not even enough to get you through something so horrific, I can only say stay strong for your other children, they will need you now more than ever. I am truly sorry for not attending I heard after the service. If there is anything I can do for your or your family please let me know. All my love and prayers are with you. Love Gretchen

Matty was a good friend and a great guy. I knew him for a while we used to watch all those crazy comic book movies. I was glad to call him a friend and he will be in my heart forever

Karen, Vinnie, Jillian and Kari,
Our heartfelt prayers are with you as you mourn the death of Matt. We will never forget all of the happy memories we spent with you and your family at the various swim meets and practices. Matt was always so kind and professional when we would see him at Subway.
Please know we are praying for you and and may you always remember what a special person Matt was to so many people.
Love always,
The Goszewski Family

Matt was such a nice kid. I used to chat with him at Subway. And such a great sense of humor. I remember teasing him about those ear-strecher earrings he wore for awhile. They were huge. He was so good to my son during his illness. I am grateful. He had a good heart and was one of the good guys. ~T~

I am so sorry for your loss. I wish you and your family the strength to get through this trying time. At the family picnic is really the only times I would see Matt but I do remember him as being such a kind and intelligent young man. The world is at a loss without him. Like Sue W. said I know he was greeted with open arms by his Great Grandma Forselius and that they are smiling down on us always. Johnny Forselius

To the Piedescalzo family We are so very sorry for your great loss. Matt was a good friend of Giancarlo's, and I am reminded that they spent many hours together drawing cartoons and just enjoying each others company. The losses we experience in this life are painful beyond words, and certainly beyond any level of reason or even understanding. May God bless Matt and all of you.

When I first met you at the Hamden YMCA, you were looking forward to Matthew's birth. I remember when he arrived and how you always had him with you as you came to the office to use the phone or the copy machine. Also, later you always brought him with you to the After School Programs. You were never apart from him. I saw him through the years as he grew up (and up) and last saw him in your home six years ago. I believe he was just leaving behind the "dreadlock" stage.

I did not personally know Matty but my son Philip was very close to him the past couple of years. Philip and he became best friends and Philip shared with me the loss of his good friend and although he is now living in Colorado, he felt deeply moved to be at the service of his dear friend. My heart breaks for you as a mother and as a family. It is our greatest fear and as a parent we can feel the deepest empathy. Bless you all as you make sense of this passage in Matty's journey. I am a believer that things happen to us and FOR us. It helps me to make sense of the messages God has for me as we face the ups and downs in life, both happy and tragic. Cordially, Bonnie White, Mequon, Wisconsin
