Obituary of Marvin Rapp
CHESHIRE; Mr. Marvin Monroe Rapp 84, of Cheshire passed away Thursday June 24, 2010 at the Hospital of Saint Raphael in New Haven. He was the husband of Ann Elizabeth (Powrie) Rapp.
Mr. Rapp was born September 12, 1925 in Philadelphia the son of the late George M. and Beulah (Hunter) Rapp and has been a Cheshire resident for the past 52 years. He was a graduate of Norwich University in Vermont earning his degree in civil engineering. He was an engineer for the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation retiring after 30 years of service. He was also an engineer for the Town of North Haven for 10 years. He was involved with the design and construction of the Sikorsky Bridge and was named in the Who's Who for American Engineers. Mr. Rapp was a veteran of the US Marine Corps.
Besides his wife, he leaves his daughters, Ann Reich and her husband Ronald of Cheshire and Gwen Cooney of Cheshire, his grandchildren, Erik Reich of Cheshire and Kadah Reich of Hamden. He was predeceased by his sister Trudy Griffith. He also leaves his niece, Darleen Howard of New York and his nephew Tripp Griffith of New Hampshire and his beloved Yorkshire Terrier Holly.
Friends may call at the parlor of the First Congregational Church of Cheshire 111 Church Drive Monday at 11 a.m. followed by funeral services at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery.
