Obituary of Anthony Rosa

WATERBURY; Mr. Anthony R. Rosa 90, of Waterbury passed away Friday July 9, 2010 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Eleanor (Snyder) Rosa. Mr. Rosa was born September 17, 1919 in Waterbury a son of the late Domenic and Concetta (Rosa) Rosa and was a lifelong Waterbury resident. He was a graduate of Mary Abbott Grammar School and attended Leavenworth High School. He was a self employed painter retiring after over 65 years of service. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army serving for four years in Hawaii and the Marshall Islands, being honorably discharged as a Corporal. He enjoyed gardening and car repair. Mr. Rosa was a Communicant of Saint Leo the Great Church. Besides his wife he leaves his daughters, Karen Young of Wallingford and Donna Williams and her husband Gary of Middlebury, his brother, Frank Rosa of Wolcott, his grandchildren Tracy Johnston and her husband Bill, Rebecca Fish and her husband Brian and Jeffrey Williams and his fiancée Tara Hawkins, his great grandchildren Abbey and Billy Johnston and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Billy Rosa and two brothers and three sisters. Funeral services for Mr. Rosa will be held on Monday at 8:15 a.m. from the Alderson Funeral Home of Waterbury 9 Holmes Avenue to Saint Leo the Great Church 20 Bentwood Drive in Waterbury for a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery in Waterbury. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the C.O.R.S.E Foundation P.O. Box 512 North Scituate, MA 02060. The foundation serves children with special needs.
