Obituary of Eleanor Peterson

NAUGATUCK- Miss Eleanor Ruth Peterson, 68, of Naugatuck, passed away early Friday morning July 30, 2010 at the Beacon Brook Health Care Center. Eleanor was born in Waterbury, Oct. 31, 1941, a daughter of the late Carl J. W. and Laura (Taylor) Peterson and was a lifelong Naugatuck resident. She was educated in the Naugatuck school system and was a graduate of Naugatuck High School, Class of 1959. She was employed at the Howard Whittemore Memorial Library for over 50 years, retiring in June of this year. She was a member of the Naugatuck Valley Community Church and was a member of the former Winona Rebekah Lodge, I.O.O.F. At her former church, she had been a Sunday school teacher, sang in the choir and had been a member of the diaconate. She is survived by her brother, Harold "Pete" Peterson and his wife Joan of Naugatuck; one niece and nephew and a great-niece and great-nephew and several cousins. She is also survived by her beloved cats, Esther and Jasper Funeral services will be held on Sunday Aug. 1st at 4 pm at the Alderson Funeral Home of Naugatuck, 201 Meadow St. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 pm until the time of the service.
